my 95 5.7 is skipping as you take off. at firsti thought it was the plugs. soi changed them and got a little bit better but still skips. i also thought is was the EGR valve. so i changed it also and still skips. so next thing i'm going to adjust the lifters and see if thats it. but if yall know any other ideas let me know asap..

Skipping as in hesitating, missfiring, bogging down?

I'd start with replacing the fuel filter. It could be clogged up if it has never been changed. Especially with it being a 95.

If the cat was clogged it would stay bogged down. I doubt it's that.
