Spark plug condition
Hello again. I replaced my spark plugs about a month ago, I just checked them and on the left bank there are 2 plugs that are a bit blacker than the others, also one of them has a fairly strong gas smell coming from it, do I need to replace the wires are the coils there? Also could this be the reason why my truck hesitates at high speeds, 80 kph?

Yes that is very possible. Coils will overtime build up resistance, as will anything that conducts electricity. There is a couple of ways to check. What I do, at night, will take a spark plug out and then connect it to the coil wire and somehow ground itself where it will stay, then start the truck and see how strong or weak the spark is. With new plugs its a good way to check for coil strength.

How about a computer scan??????? A failed O2 sensor will also do the same thing.....as will a weak crank or cam sensor.........scan the computer in real time...it will give you a welth of info

I had the scanner hooked up by a dealer and they said that no codes were thrown.

You need to look at the below chart and tell us the one that matches the one you pulled out. There are a few that could be "Black" telling us the one that matches yours will allow us to help you better.

more specific look at the pics on this chart for the oil fouled, pre-ignition and carbon fouled plugs as these will all apear black. Then tell us the one that matches your plugs.

When you say "real time" does that mean when the engine is running?
