spark plugs
just changed my spark plugs (i doubt they've been changed ever, and my truck has 107k on it)... only took me 4 hours... it took me and three buddies to change the closest one to the firewall on the passenger side... that s.o.b. is in there tight...
anyway, for future reference, is there a trick to getting that out of there, or is it set up like that so you take it to a dealership?

RE: spark plugs
ROFL! I know what you mean. I taken em out on my truck and my dad's truck. The problem is that stupid heat shield! Cuts the crap outa ya if you aint' careful. I've found that you have to stick the socket and a small extension in there first, then stick the socket wrench on and crank away. Why couldn't they all be as easy as the ones on the driver side?
But that ain't nothin!! Try changing plugs on a boxer 4 cylinder in Subaru! Talk about ticked. You know its bad when a well trained dealership staff can't give you any advice except to laugh at you and say they're sorry you have to do it.[&:]

RE: spark plugs
I'd probably suggest putting something like anti-seize on them before I put the new ones in. It's for head bolts and spark plugs to keep them from getting stuck due to heat and corrosion.
Changing them before 107K wouldn't hurt either. Not that I can complain, I just changed the ones in my 2000 Grand Prix on Saturday, after 132K miles. They weren't in that hard, but the wires were fused on the back of the plugs so bad I ended up shattering two of the plugs trying to get them off.

Yeah, pretty much what 72charger said. Thats what I had to do, fortunatley it came out without a fight. My Monte Carlo was a bitch too. It had the 3.4L V6. I had to unbolt the engine mounts and rock the engine toward the front to get to 3 of the plugs. They where literally right on top of the firewall.

Oh that's great Argon. Give me something to look forward to why don't you!
Hey Argon, what would it take to swap an LS1 into a 95 Camaro? I know the frames are different but is it possible or do you have to do a lot of cutting/welding garbage?

RE: spark plugs
the worse I ever heard of was old corvettes. The easiest way to change the spark plugs was to drill holes in the wheel wells. Guess some guy made a mint with templates and rubber gromits for the holes after you were done.
...At least as it was told to me
