I have a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2wd short wheel base, that I bought used. When I got the truck it had a 1968 327 and a turbo 350 trans. The speedometer is not working. Was wondering if someone could tell me what to check and if it works off of electronics or cable??

 

im not sure if yours is electric or not but there is a gear inside of the transmision its made of some kind of plastic material
also maybe a servo or sensor and the gauge stepper motor might be out
could be a fuse to as in my car thats the case i have a loose fuse and my speedo quit workin so i just use my gps
my trucks speedo works fine its off about 5mph due to oversize tires and gearing but i hope this helps guide you in some sort of direction on where to look let us know what you find out
