Squeaky Brakes
Have an 07 Sierra, new body style, and brakes squeak every morning and at low speeds or when wet. Had dealership look at it, they say more than half of brake pads left but that gm's new brake pads and rotors just squeak. About to annoy the hell out of me. Will new brake pads, not from gm, solve this or will the rotor still be an issue with different brand of pads. The rotors are in great shape by the way. I am the one who will change brake pads at first squeak because it drives me crazy!!!

You may have ceramic pads from the dealer, which will squeak almost all the time. Doesn't mean they are goin bad, but they do last a long while. You could change them out with some new ones. When you do, get like a 100 grit sand paper and take the glaze off the surface of the rotor. If you have access to air tools, even better. The rotor will be smooth and shiny BEFORE you do it. It should be smooth and scuffed when your done on both sides. New pads will run about 35 dollars at the parts store. Get semi matallic pads. Or maybe try those Wagner Thermo Quiet pads. Then take some sand paper and round the edges off the new pads. This will allow the pads to break in properly. Otherwise they will squeal a little. Just a few things to do to save you about 300 dollars.
