squealing at low speed
hello everyone,
i have a 2001 silverado z71 extended cab that the rear brakes seem to to be squealing up to 40 mph's. I have replaced the the pads and the squealing remains. When we drive it to someplace and we stop i check the actual rotor temp by touching and they are hotter than the front rotors.Pads look fine on the front. Could this problem be warped rotors, bad u joints, something in the rear end differential , or calipers locking up or bad. Also if there might be any recalls or TSB"S on this problem. Any information would be much appreciated.
Thanks Todd

RE: squealing at low speed
The problem is not rear end, differential, u-joints. Either rotors warped or caliper issue. Is the squeal constant or intermittent. If constant then look caliper or squeek tab bent (probably caliper). If intermittent the rotor needs refinishing or new rotoe ($45 a peice)

RE: squealing at low speed
Smoke20,
Thanks for the reply. I think its a rotor problem because it seems to start out slowly and at one point in the rear end. The faster you go the more frequent it sounds, then at around 35 to 40 you can barely hear it. thanks again todd
