Default Stall converter

Got my Engine and tranny out the other day. Putting motor in with a mild cam rated around 280 hp and I have no idea on torque. Also getting the tranny rebuilt gonna cost me around 900 bucks. While i was at it was thinking about either putting a 2000 B&M stall converter with lock up or a 2400 stall. Cant make up my mind. Any suggestions?

Choose one thats suitable towards your cam power band like if its power band starts @ 1800/2000rpm then the 2000 would be well enough unless your looking to knock your 60ft times on the track then just get what you need imo. Also is that 900 with you dropping the tranny out to give to the service man along with parts or did they buy the new hard parts? Im looking to put a mild cam in my 4.8 also along with getting my 4L60E rebuilt with a good kit.

the 900 is me dropping the tranny and them doing the labor and buying the hard parts without a converter

Your stall should come in 3-5 hundred after where you cam starts making power.Soif a cam rpm range is from 2000-5500 you would want a conv that comes in around 2300-2500
