Stock air intake on a 2K Tahoe

RE: Stock air intake on a 2K Tahoe
Do you have or do you know anyone who has an S&B? I had an AirRaid on my 2K Durango. There was a flap I was able to take off the front that let the air straight in to the filter. In looking under the hood of the Tahoe the front end looks closed off a lot tighter. There might be a couple of flaps that could be removed or turned back to allow the air to come through a little better but I’m not sure how much. The S&B and the K&N look like about the same design and the prices are pretty close. The K&N has the open filter element with the hot air damn which from what I can tell from the installation instructions, is suppose to fit relatively close to the hood so the heat from the engine compartment is blocked out. If the front is opened up even a little it might give the air a better shot at the filter element. The S&B is still boxed off and draws the air in from the side of the fender well like the stock air box. It’s hard to tell if there would be enough additional air coming in through the front to make the K&N more desirable over the S&B. If there is no difference as far as how easy the air gets to them then I doubt there is much difference, they both give you a high flow filter and an air inlet tube that looks like it would flow better than the stock intake tube.
