anybody have any experience with the 99 silverado 4.8L 100k service? should i take it to the dealer and pay $900 or are there things i can omit and take it to a garage and tell them to do what is really necessary. any suggestions

 

I look at it like this, if it ain't broke, leave it alone, cept maybe get the tranny fluid/filter changed or flushed. I got mine back flushed but i know alot of people on here don'treccommend the flush. My truck only has about 72,000 miles too. 100K miles, probably should do the filter/fluid change. Just my .02 worth

 

Ill never flush any part of my truck tried it and had probs on 2 cars. If I were you id do a tune up and fluid change filters and maybe you can find somebody that will inspect it for you if you don't know what to look for.

 

I reccommend to get the diff and tranny flushed or at least change the filter and fluid. Also you should get the power steering fluid changed and flushed also the coolant. All of this is if you havn't done it all ready. I would say if you have the tools do it your self, if not take it to a dealership and have it done right.
