Dont know much about the superchargers but as far as the 03 to 05 if i were you i would go for a 05 or newer because they have the electric fans making alot more room in the engine bay.

I know the Wynjammer superchargers are a lot cheaper too. Half of the price you pay for a Vortec kit is just paying for a name. Check this out http://www.wynjammer.com/ALM1115/GM_...6_0__Kits.html

I have talked to the guy who used to tune my 91' about superchargers and he said might not be worth the money, especially if you are using it as an everyday vehicle. He has a 2002 Silverado, he spent 3,500 bucks and supercharged it. He then sold his car and wound up driving the truck everyday. Long story short he took the supercharger off cause of the cost of gas and sold it for like $3000. He then took that money and bought a full exhaust system, ported the heads, got a custom tune, intake, headers, throttle body and throttle body spacer, electric fans with cooler thermostat, pulleys, cam, etc... He told me he was happier doing it that way cause he saved money (even with the 500 or so he lost when he sold it) and it ran better with the bolt ons over the supercharger. Now keep in mind that he drives the truck everday like 100 - 150 miles a day. As far as the power, well it had plenty of ***** and I wouldn't say it was slower but the bolt ons gave it ***** without having to get into the powerband. The supercharger gave it more top end but it wasn't as much fun from a dead stop.

You should look into a Magnacharger, I have been nothing but impressed by how they perform. That and they come with everything that you need, including the tuner that not only changes the fuel and air mapping but it also changes the shift points and firmness. They also come with new injectors. It is a little bit different than a supercharger becouse of it's design. It is considered to be a positive dispacement charger. Basically if you get the 122 it is like adding 122 cu in to the engine. Then if you add a CAI and cat back exhuast it will scream I also beleave that they warrenty the parts and labor for 1 year.
