Default Tech Service Question?

I just traded my 99 Sierra for an 05 Silverado and in the glove box is some service tickets from when it was worked on under warranty. The ticket say the Customer complaint is that there is a noise in the front end and the mileage is 16175 miles. The repair says it is cause F and the following work was done.
E7700Shaft, Steering intermediate replaced,
FC:2K
Part # 26098419
Count 1

16175 Lube intermediate steering shaft. TAC Equiped.

Then customer complaint # 2 is, Front tires are wearing bad and Tech says it is due to lack of rotation and reccommends new tires.

Then there is a ticket for 2 months later and the truck had a Front end alignment performed.

My question is, What exactly was done and why would these problems be showing up so early in it's life, also wander if this truck sounds like it's going to be a headace or would you assume the problem has been taken care of?
Thanks to the techs that hang out on this forum and help the common people out.

the steering shaft was lubed to stop a rattle..which is only temporary..the truck will need a new shaft if its not had 1.

Thanks, the ticket says it was replaced so I guess I'm ok then?
I purchased a non-GMC Warranty which was offered by them which is supposed to cover about anything for 5 years or 100,000 miles, even oil chenges. It cost me $1600.00. Does that sound correct or did I misunderstand?

well..on non-gm policies...i'd call the company and ask just where in your area you can take your truck..if your in a small town, and not near the dealer who sold it to ya,this could be a big problem.

always try to buy gmpp

The only insurance plan offered was wriiten by MPP, Mechanical Protection Plan. They are based in Florida, by Old United Casualty Company, but they show a division in Shawnee Mission Kansas. The dealer said I had to bring the truck to them for the warranty to be good. They said they even paid for the oil changes.

My 2 cents: Any warantee program that isn't from the manufacturer is useless in most cases. GM certified with their protection plan is the best you can get. The one that came with my 99 (little used car lot) had a supposedly great one. Then I took it to the dealership, the tech guy just laughed and said "It doesn't cover ****. Good thing you didn't get the two year warantee."
