Thinkin bout buying a truck
so ive grown up on trucks (all chevy) my whole life. and when i turned 16 i bought a mustang v6, now im trying to sell it and buy / trade for a 96-98 silverado 1500 extended cab 7z1 4x4.
what i really wanna do with it over time is put cherry bomb extreme mufflers off an h-pipe on it, a 3 inch body lift, and 33x10 tires on 15" rims.
i was wondering if there was an intake manifold or under drive pully system i could put on to help out the mpg, along with a tuner and cold air intake and possibly a throttle body spacer.

Welcome to the forum! I am sure you could find some pulleys, but I haven't seen an intake for the Vortec trucks that retains all the factory injection. I know they have a throttle body spacer, tuner and CAI. Good luck and let us know what you find.

ok i was just wondering about that cause my friends said his cussin put some intake manifold called "cyclone" that helped his mpg a lot. but idk what year truck he did it to.
i know the basics to helping the gas milage on a car (cai, udp, tuner, exhaust)
what would be a good tuner to get.
my whole reason for selling the mustang to get an older truck (other then that i love trucks and i hate that things little 3.8l engine) is that i will be able to sell the car and buy a truck and hopefully have a couple thousand in the back so i dont have to worry about gas money as much during the school year (current job only works me in summer) hopefully ill find one for like 4k and be able to put 1k in car and 1k in bank
thanks for any help.
edit: when looking at rims 10" thick will stand outside the body right? and what bolt pattern does a 97 style 1500 have?

Welcome to the site. I think what your friends cussin was talking about "cyclone" is a throttle body spacer, they are supposed to help from what people i know are saying but one never knows. There was a lengthy post discussion about intake system upgrades specific. Explore some other posts on this site there is alot of discussion on mpg and mods to be done to these trucks. My opinion is headers and exhaust as well as intake upgrades. In my experience headers and exhaust is the cheapest upgrade that will give you the most noticable change. Plus he then others know your truck means buisness. There is no sense having air come in freely then have the engine work its butt off to get the air out. Just my 2 cents.

i have currently not seen any 'longtube' per say headers for the vortec 5.7L trucks we have... the best i can find are the cheap summit brand (~$200) and then the more expensive gibson and another company's headers (~$500). i believe they retain the cats though.. check and see if theyre certified or not..
