Default throttle body

i just bought a 99 z71 with the 5.3. i was thinking about getting a bigger throttle body. i was wonderin if i get a throttle body spacer will it work with a bigger throttle body? im assuming that the spacers whole opening is the same size as the stock? any input would help.

Not sure about your question, but from what I hear the aftermarket throttle bodies are not worth it. very little power increase for alot of money. may be better to port the one you got.

It seems like it should, but all the feedback I have seen is negative. So it seems that saving your money and porting your own would be a better deal. I am no expert on these, I have just read a little on them.

thanks for the advice. so do throttle body spacers help then? and how do you go about porting your own? a tool and die shop doing it? or is there a cheaper way to do it myself? thanks again for the advice!!

I could be wrong but I thought that the 4wd's came with the 85mm throttle bodies . But usually bigger is better when it comes to throttle bodies. But if you go to big with a cable actuated throttle body it can make low RPM driving challenging

MrLM7 had a recent write up on this. If you look at the old posts you will see a write up on how to do it. I have not done it, but it appears to help some. I think you will be happier with a reprogram though.

I just did mine and it made a world of difference. Just look through the old posts and you will see mine and the one Mrlm7 has as well. it was VERY easy.
