Default Trailer wiring adapter

Are the newer trucks (mine's an 09), with the towing package supposed to come with a 7 pin round to 4 pin flat adapter?

Hey,
No. The towing / trailering package will only have the 7. You will need to buy a 4 pin from a parts store. I have a 2010 2500hd and just put one in for the light stick. I do not like seeing the wires, so this weekend I am going to hard wire them in.

If you bought the truck new from a dealer it should have come with a pig tail that plugs into the 7 pin and converts to the 4.
If so go back to the dealer and inform them that it was not included with your truck
mine was included when I bought my 05 silverado

I did it the easy and clean way. For $15 at Northern you can buy a 7 pin adapter that plugs in socket and converts to 4 and 5 pin plug.
