well my transmission took **** on me on the way to work yesterday 103k miles. It started earlier in the week having problems shifting from 1st to 2nd. It either would not shift until about 4000rpm or you had to let of the gas and get back on it easy for it to shift. The rest of the gears seem to shift fine though except if you floored it and then it would tach out again. Now it still does the 1st to 2nd thing, but it will not shift out of 2nd gear. I even shifted into 3rd and it does nothing but rev up. Any ideas? Shift solenoids, convertor, clutches? Argon maybe you have some ideas. There is no engine light on and my code scanner only reads DTC's not trans codes.

I had a similar problem on my truck. It would shift from 1st to 2nd okay (had a little shutter to it), but if I was going up a hill in 3rd and got on it hard, it would bang on the rev limiter trying to shift to 2nd until I got off the throttle. A friend of the family owns/runs a transmission shop so I took it to him. What he told me was the 2nd gear band was shot. My options were to have him rebuild it with a 1 year warrenty from him, or replace it with a Jasper tranny and they would warrenty it for 3 years. I went with the Jasper.

well i ended up putting in a GM factory replacement 3year 100,000 mile warranty. I ordered a corvette servo kit and a bigger trans cooler to go along with it. My garage was to full to get in my truck in so i had the dealer install the trans. I got the good discount on trans and labor, total out the door $2100.00.
