i want to build another overdrive tranny seen some good things with the 200 metric trans holding 1000hp but im not looking to go that high right now. i was woundering if the 200 metric would work on my 2000 chevy 1500 LS 5.3 truck and if so are the wire hook ups different and if so is there a way to make them work so it wont be throughing check engine light cause this will still be a some what daily driver.

 

The 200R4's aren't that strong from my experience. We had one in a 1988 Monte Carlo SS that had a 400HP (guessing) 350 in it and we went through about 4 transmissions in less than a year. I am sure the yahoo building them had something to do with it though. If you want to build a a stronger transmission I would do a 4L60E to 4L80E conversion and use some stronger parts. That 5.3 shouldn't be able to hurt that trans if it is built right. Plus you will have a direct plug in / bolt up unit. Just my opinion.

 

i know how to build trans i just take my time on them to make sure all goes in right. but i have a buddy that build trans for a living and he usually does all our race trans and we have never broke one of his trans. i havent really saw anything good with the 4l60e or 4l80e. i have seen alot doing the 200r4 and holding 1000hp and they run into no problems. the bell housings are the same so it will bolt up. im trying to find out if the wiring is the same or what i need to do so i can have it all hooked up and no check engine light on. i was trying to see if anyone has done something like this to a truck like mine or something close to it.
