Okay the truck is a 2000 ford ranger v-6 i know its a ford but i need to try and get it fixed it my sister in laws that i bought for her and shes paying me for it. But any ways when ever it rains the battery goes dead and the truck will not start unless i jump it. And it only does it if it rains. Any one have a clue where to start Thanks guys.

Is it after she's been driving it in the rain and she turns it off or if she goes out first thing in the morning and it just happens to be raining it won't start? If it's the first I'm thinking maybe the alternator can't charge the battery enough after she's been running the wipers and headlights in the rain which both drain charge pretty quick. If it's the second then I don't have the foggiest clue!

Well i know it is when she goes out to the truck in the morning but also it has not started after she stops it like at walmart or a food place and when she goes back out it wont start. I have checked the alternator with the truck running and the voltage seems good. So i dont have a clue where to start.

have you tried changing the distributor cap? alot of times those crack and get a little condensation in them causing problems like that.

i had an s10 that did that... we ended up replacing the alternator and it stopped doing it, but it didn't do it all the time, so im not sure that was it, but it could be worth a shot

pull off the negitave battery cable and hook ip a amp meter and see how much draw the car is pulling with the key off also if you spray the motor with water does the problem happen
