hey guys, i have an 04 chevy silverado 1500 with 4.8l v8. truck is stock, recently acquired from my dad. has 80,000 on it. being as the truck is now "mine", i would like to do some things to it to put out more power. im looking to get better performance out of my truck without killing my mileage and im looking to spend around $1000-1500. open and thankful for any ideas.

These are the performance mods I went with and they did improve performance without costing me mileage. There are many other brands that do the same things and a good bit of research should be done by you so you're satisfied with whatever you decide to buy.

thanks dls. already looked at k&n 77 series for intake and ive looked around at some other exhausts. buddy of mine told me to get some e3's but when i searched them most of the results came up as problems or misfires, so i was wondering if plugs and wires would be worth while and if so what i should get. spent probably 45 minutes searching the other day but couldnt get any direct answers....

I got a hand held I will sale ya: Superchips Flash Paq. As soon as I sale mine I am getting a tune done. Or you could get a tune done.
3 plugs are junk... enough said there. If you are goingto do plugs and wires. Go with iridium plugs. Wires are your chioce just don't go cheap or high dollar. Find a good set in the mid price range.
