Default Use old Hypertech for new/custom tune?

I got an old Hypertech Power Programmer III from my uncle. It is for 2004-2005 Chevy's, and I have an 06 1500. I plugged it in but it will not work with my truck.

So, is there any option I have to still use the programmer, but just flash it's memory with a new/custom tune? I mean, just having the box, cable, flash memory, etc from the old HPP should, in theory, be able to be reused, and thus save me some money. So is there are way to reuse this hardware that is in good condition and just upgrade the program so it will work with my truck?

i think the 06 requires a different model #. hypertech probably wont do anything to update that programmer.

I would sell it on ebay and go custom tune, after wasting $650 on 2 different hypercraps, my blackbear tune is at least 500x better and cheaper too.

Call Hypertech. They will reprogram it for you for a price, but like bad2006z71 said look into a custom tune. Compare prices. I know I have a Superchips Flash paq, but as soon as I can get my finainces straightend out I am going with a custom tune. The programmers are fun for a while, but once you get the erge for more power and discover that a programmer only does so much and you ride in a truck that is tuned... well just trust me and the other guys.
