vin/chassis/body numberproblem
First I want to apologies for my spelling due to that my knowledge in English is pretty poor. And the reason for that is that I live in Sweden.
The vehicle that causes some problem is an 1977 Chevrolet crew cab tow truck. Imported to Sweden in 1995 from the US.
The problem: when the car was registerd in Sweden someone dident do their job properly and the papers donīt seem to be right. In sweden we donīt have "vin" numbers, instead we use something called "chassinummer" which shall be punched into both body and frame. These numbers was on GM cars done when the car came to the dealer as new.
In the papers this truck have the number "CCL247B146005" but to me this number is more likely to be some kind of model-code? "Crew Cab Long wheelbase something something something"?
If Iīm right, does anyone know the proper meaning of these numbers?
And just to spice this up a little, I donīt own this truck yet, owner has 8 years left in prison due to car fraud..... yes, it was he who imported this one to.

That number is actually the VIN number. Prior to 1981 the automakers used a non standardized vehicle identification system.

This was intresting. These trucks are rare over here and I donīt know much about them but now when i know what model it is (papers just say 1977 chevy crewcab) I also sees that the entire cab is "wrong"! Front at least is from the 80s. I did already know the engine been swapped to a 6.2 Diesel so i suppose this have been done at the same time.
Does someone happen to know were I can read more about the different models?
