Default Wheel offset

New to the forum and before anyone blasts me, I have performed a search on here about this topic, which is so broad. Anyway, on to my question... I've got a 2008 Silverado 1500 Z71 4WD. About to install a 2" leveling kit on front and most likely a 1" block on the back. I'm in the market for wheels, and the particular one I'm looking at is available with both a -12 and +18 offset. I've been told that you have to get the +18 by one store, but another told me that if I'm lifting the truck 2 inches to go with the -12 offset. Does anyone have experience with this that could tell me which of the two offsets to go with? Going with 18" x 9" wheels. Thanks!!

I would think the -12 would make more sense, but it depends on how that compares to the stock wheels. Too much negative offest (which -12 isn't a lot) and the wheel will hit the fender or bumper/valance. Too much positive offset and you will be rubbing on the inside. Usually lifted trucks want more negative offset then the factory wheels have - of course I am pretty sure your factory wheels aren't 9" wide so that comes into play as well. Can you get a backspacing and width measurement from the factory wheels?

The shop that wants your 'continued' business will mount the tire and wheel combo on the front to ensure the amount of clearance required. The wheel is one thing...the tire being used can be another (outer tread contour). You need to fit the desired application before a purchase or you could be wasting a ton of Do-Re-Me!!! You may need to head towrds Atlanta to find a shop that will accomodate you in the proper manner. Let you fingers do the walking first. Call the wheel manufacturer, 4WD Specialty Shops, etc. Take your time with it and you'll be much happier with the outcome.
PS: What tire and tire size are you hoping to use? You can PM me if you wish.
