I think you may have hooked into your DRLs instead of the marker lights. I can't imagine the marker lights staying on all the time during the day.

Ok, smoke, i did not hook into my DRL's, i hooked into the outside lights, which are my parking and directionals. I believe it was the blue and brown wires. Now UPDATE... I actually took my truck to my Dealer first then to the dealer where i bought the truck. My dealer finally came to the conclusion that somethings not right, even by the manual, it says, during the day, start the truck up, have the headlight switch in AUTO, put the truck in anygear but PARK, and the DRL's should come on, they don't. I had the other dealer where i bought the truck from, check it out as evidentally, the DRL's have never worked from day 1, so they told me to make an appointment, and they would see whats going on and i asked them if they could work out something with me as the truck has never had DRL's since i bought it, and they said no problem, so thats cool, but listen to this, the only timewe could get my DRL's to come on, is if i unlock the truck using the keyless entry remote, and when i do, the 2 outside lights (directionals / parking lamps) blink twice, and my DRL's come on, and go back off automatically on a timer, probably a minute later. We checked an '01 and an '02 Silverado / Sierra and they both had the DRL's come on as soon as the truck was taken out of park, and their headlamps WERE NOT ON, so somethings funky there somewheres. So,once everythings working the way its supposed to, my bumper guides will NOT be on during the daytime hours, but once the sensor turns the headlamps on automatically, the DRL's will go off and the headlamps and bumper guides will be on, and thats how i wanted them to be. I'll keep ya posted, thanx guys, if ya have any suggestions on what could be malfunctioning, feel free to say so, Thanx, Jim

sounds like the lite sensor is covered up,or fauylty...the truck thinks it dark all the time.

NOTE..even at high noon, the headlites WILL come on in a shop or garage...shop lites are not enough lite to make the sensor think it is daylite

Hey Argon, thats what i'm thinking, the lite sensors faulty, its definately not covered up unless it is down imside but i doubt it. When we checked it out tonite, it was around 5:00 pm, in broad daylite, maybe a bit before, and both the '01 and '02 trucks DRL's came on. Is there a way to test the lite sensor? I've also noticed occasionally i'll be driving down the road broad daylight and the headlamps and etc are on, and all of a sudden, i'll notice my bumper guides will go out, as will the dash lites. The directionals still work on the bumper guides, as well, so that now tells me the sensor is faulty. I'll mention that to the techs. Thanx Argon, Jim

Ok, another update, some good news here. Just out of pure luck, i was checking around online to see if anyone else has had any problems with the headlight sensors and i check on automotiveforum.com, and there was an article on there that made me wonder. This person had a 2000 Silverado and had mentioned that there was a tinted dome over the light sensor in his dash, and that it had fell off and went down in the vent...... I had noticed, but never gave it a thought, that there was a hole in the top of my dash where i was told the sensor is located, so i just went outside and checked and sure enuf, it looks like the sensor and the tinted dome cover, has come unscrewed from the dash, and is actually down under the dash panel, which would explain my problems. So, i am a happy camper, now i just gotta figure out how to get it out and clipped back into the dash, and i should be good to go........ Thanx all, Jim

on the '99 through 01 or 02 i think you have to push the button that turns the interior lights on like four times and the lights should go off.

Right, if the truck is running and the lights are on; if you hit that button 4 times it will turn what ever lights are on...head lights, DTRLs, i don't think it works on fog lights though. at least that is how it worked on my '01.
