wiring/headlights question

RE: wiring/headlights question
when the "new" silverado came out in 99...there was NO WAY to disable drl,or the headlites if it were dark out.
in 2000,gm added a feature...the dome over-ride button...push it in 4 times and they go out....however,the next key cycle they came back on.
about 03,the modern switch came out, where you simply rotate it to "off" every key cycle to keep em off

RE: wiring/headlights question
The push the button four times procedure WON'T work on my 2002 Silverado that was sold in CANADA(not just manufactured there). I called Chevrolet Corporate and they told me the COntrolModule is different for the Canadian models, something about a safety Law requiring lights on anytime it's running, or something like that.

RE: wiring/headlights question
Oops, I closed my last entry without finishing it. I know how to defeat the Automatic headlights in theory,by tricking the computer into thinking it is always Daytime. If you can remove the sensor from the dash(haven't figured out how to remove mine yet),hold it in the light and measure the resistance(according to another member it should be 1.5K Ohms) then get a resistor of that value from Radio Shack and put it in the connector for the sensor(instead of plugging the sensor back in) and put everything back in the dash, now the computer always thinks the sensor is seeing daylight. Apparently this can also be done at the white and grey wires A4 & A6(watch out for other gey wire) on the Purple plug of the BCM, just poke the resistor wires into the A4 & A6 wires insulation.
