RE: Worst Accident ever? Tell us!
well, when i was 17, i had to be home by 12, and my parents were about like jcbst's about curfew. well i was sitting at my girlfriend at the time's house and fell asleep. she woke me up at 11:50... uh-oh. so i decided i'd try it and see just how quick you could make a 20 minute drive...
i was going down this road, and it goes down left, then a bump, up right. i don't remember some details about the wreck (concussion), but i remember looking down and noticing that i was going 95... then i remember hitting the bump and taking the right sideways...
i woke up in the hospital the next day... as it turns out i was going so fast over the bump my tires just completely lost traction, i got sideways and rolled two and a half times... my 6'2" 250 lbs went through the driver window of a blazer... i still dont understand how that happened
crappiest part? i missed the freakin super bowl
best part? insurance check i got for the blazer bought my truck

RE: Worst Accident ever? Tell us!
Well I guess it is my turn. Well I grew up in a town where most people knew each other, but not so small that everybody knew everybody. I always lived out in the country outside of that town (BTW Pop 13,500).
-Story #1 Well when I was about 14 my dad always made sure that I had key to all of the vehicles around the property, just in case. So when mom and dad went to town, me and my buddies had usually about two or three hours to kill. Well in this case we had my older brothers '76 chevy stepside SC, it was pretty cherry. Well donuts up a hill and back down the hills were the theme that day, so when we got up the hill we started doing the circles of fun and laughs until BAM we came to an abrupt stop in the middle of a donut. So i pull forward thinking that we had hit a tree, I was being very not careful to hit them. So I look at the truck and I don't see anything out of the ordinary except one little dent in the rim near the edge with a little bit of a scuff on the tire. So we drove it home and hosed it down. Well about a week later my dad was fallowing my mom, mom was in that truck and dad was in a diesel rig. He noticed that the rear wheel was wabbling to ****. So he pulled her over and they made sure that the lugs were tight and it was good, later that night we (me and dad) tore into the truck to figure out what was wrong. I bent the frigging axle! That it how hard it hit. It didn't bend the wheel just the axle. He ended up blaiming my mom for hitting a curb in a parking lot! That was just one of many times that mom was blaimed for the screwing off that I did when I lived at home.
Story #2- I was wheeling in my truck and I was getting pretty cocky with it and I went through a mud strip in 2x4 and made about half way through, then I locked it into 4x4 and started again. After I got the wheels spinning again there was something that kicked my foot off of my gas peddle. I was thinking it was a rock so I said hell I will just get out of this hole and then take a look at it. So I gave it some more gas and then bam, my foot was kicked completely off of the gas. It also seemed like I had something stuck under the peddle, so I get hooked up with a buddys truck and he starts to pull, I was giving it as much gas as I could to help get it out so that I could figure out what the hell is going on. He starts pulling and I give it some gas and BOOM! the passenger airbag goes off! Now I am ****tin' my paints. We get it out and find that there was a piece of carpet that got wrapped around the front drive line and ripped the shift cable out and that in turn shorted out the airbag control module that is under the drivers seat. To this day I still haven't fixed the airbag, but the shift cable was like 75 bucks. That was the worst damage that I have ever done to a truck while off road.
Other than that, I have only been in a buddies vehicle that was T boned while pulling some slides on ice in North Dakota.
Other than little bits of getting stuck in creeks that were swelled from rain and 4x4'n out in the back country nothing else major or at least worth mentioning.

RE: Worst Accident ever? Tell us!
That just reminded me about the first time that I really appreciated a pickup truck. I had just gotten the 91’ fixed and inspected that month. (My dad gave it to me after it sat for 3 years and I had to dump 2K into it to get her all fixed, tuned and inspected). At the time I was driving from the city, 50 minutes home to the country, (I had a pretty good paying garage job and gas was under 2.50). Anyway, I driving home in traffic and it was far worse than I have ever seen. Then I keep seeing emergency crews left and right….then construction vehicles blocking roads…..then a lot more emergency vehicles. Now traffic has stopped. At the time I had a “tweaked†CB radio and a K40, so I switched her on. The radio blew up with truckers bitchen about all these roads being closed due to floods and landslides. “Oh sh*t, how do I get home?†Its 9 PM and dark, and Im sitting still on a freeway full of cars. Moving a few feet every 15-20 minutes. “Ok I have to fix this.†After about 2 hours I get off at an open exit. Goes parallel to the highway. Still crawling along. Now Im seeing cars pulled off to the side. Thinking about my half tank of gas I shut her off in between traffic moving. (Good thing I had a good battery) Over the next hour I work my way throught the country, slowly, like a maze as I come across road after road which was closed off due to flooding. After another 30 minutes, I find a road I recognize. They were just about to pull a firetruck in front of it to close it off. I saw a foot or so of water down the way a little, so off into 4 wheel drive and I gunned it for the road. It wasn’t a foot it was like 3 feet or so. I crawled though that, over a couple of mud slide piles in the road, a couple more huge puddles, and after another hour or so I finally got home. Boy did I love that truck after that! There was no way my 240SX would have mad it home through all of that. So after that I felt like I could go anywhere! And I did every weekend in the woods! Lol.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with crash stories. However, I'm reminded of a latin phrase spoken usually at the time of plowing through mud puddles. In cavda venenvm - In the tail [is the] poison. Watch out for what you don't see.

RE: Worst Accident ever? Tell us!
I remembered a few more.
1. I was crawling through the school parking lot like i did everyday due to the one exit thatexits to the busiest road in town. BAAMM! A freakin teacher T-boned me in the school parking lot! Then had the guts to get out and yell at me for it! Quote "You stupid kids thinking you king of the road driving like maniacs (sp?)!!!!" a. You hit me b. I was stopped c. Its a freakin parking lot!
Again in my dads car. lol
2. I was 17 and ridding with my friend in a car i dont remember. We were hauling down some back dirt road and hit some chatter bumps. he slams on the brake and we slow down just enough to not roll over when we start spinning. Some how we never left the road so we were both just shakin up a little and drove away. We heard some rattling that we couldnt figure out but he said, oh it will just go away. Well a week later when his dad drove (who didnt know bout the incodent) figured it out. Some how, God only knows, we pulled the tire away from the rim and there were rocks in the tire clanking around!

Idk what happened and I def dont know how the tire was not totally flat. I was as confused as you are when he told me. I do believe you understood that correctly. Unless I totally missed the boat on that one too. I didnt think such a thing was possible. Maybe it's not.
