Tires
I have a tire question, my 01 ram 2500 is the first 3/4 ton pickup ive ever owned. the fella i know who owns a local tire shop tells me i HAVE to use 10 ply tires on my HD truck. take into account that the truck had 265/75R16 Load Range E tires on it when i bought it.... but it was also an old farm truck. can i run regular load class tires on it? the reason i ask is because Load Range E tires are outrageous! i never use the truck for heavy towing, never haul anything other than a 4wheeler or light loads so theres really no need in my mind for a HD towing tire. i would like to put a set of regular light truck tires on it because its my daily driver and i cant afford to be wearing out high dollar tires frequently by driving as much as i do.

Yes you can, but make sure you don't forget what you have and haul something real heavy. Some tire shops won't install tires that aren't rated for your truck. This is to cover their butt. E rated tires will outlast regular truck tires, but will also ride stiffer. If you shop around you will see they aren't really that much more. I had a cheap 2500 truck that hauled heavy on occasion and I found a set of E rated for $450 installed here locally. They weren't name brand, but they did the trick.

I put brand new Cooper Starfire M/S 265/75/16 Load Range E on my truck for a christmas present for myself for just over $450 installed just like Shamrock said.
There shouldn't be a huge price difference. My advice: go to an outlet tire shop, not these damn belle tires with kids workign in them (Mistakes drive up costs), and don't go to a car dealer NO MATTER WHAT!

Cheapest set of Load Range E tires ive found anywhere around here are over $875 dollars a set. I wish i could find some at the price yall are stating, if so i would have a whole brand new set put on it tomorrow! I guess i just need to do a little more searching before i decide to put a set of tires on it other than Load Range E's. Hopefully i'll find a good deal somewhere.
