I have a 96 ford ranger. The shifter "Sitck" or i have to work it in to gear . This is only 1st and 2nd gear. it drives fine once its moving, just does this at stops. pi'm expecting to have to replace the clutch. I just want to know what to look for so i do not get ripped off.

Does it have a hydraulic clutch? You should have a small resevoir under the hood on the drivers side. It takes break fluid. You may not need a new clutch but a clutch slave cylinder.

It could be the slave cylinder getting weak, or it might be the syncros for 1st and 2nd gear.
