Default 09 F350 diesel goes Y2K on New Year's Day

At 4 AM this morning 1/1/2010 my F350 dash started emitting warning chimes (5 "bings" then a pause followed by 5 more bings and on and on). Multiple warning symbols appeared in sequence on the message screen including oil pressure, fuel tank, coolant temperature, stability control system and the words "check brake system". The engine (6.4 diesel) hadn't run for 12 hours and the vehicle has just over 3000 miles on it. After about 5 minutes the warnings stopped only to start again one hour later. The second time I turned the headlights on (very strong - batteries good). The I tried the ignition (glow plug light and other usual control lights came on briefly) and nothing happened - no solenoid clicks or anything. After trying that the binging stopped, but the check brake system message and oil pressure symbol kept cycling on the message screen and the orange "P" light on the transmission lit up and stayed on. Checked all manuals and found nothing and went back to sleep (vehicle is a customized 4x4 class C RV). At 9AM dash was blank as if normal. At 11AM the engine fired as normal. Temps were around freezing last night.

Any ideas as to what is going on? Some sort of annual engine computer reboot? No I didn't drink too much on New Year's Eve so was sober when all this happened.

Disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected for 10 minutes. That's what I do with any piece of technology that's giving me fits and it usually seems to work...
