89 F-350 power window issue
Hey guys.....newby here looking for help. Power windows on my 89 F350 go down and will come back up with assistance, however without me grabbing on and pulling them up, they just sit there and "jump, slip" type thing. So the motors appear to be functioning fine. How are these driven and what should i be looking for? I do have the door panel off but can't seem to really see what is going on. Any direction here would be greatly appreciated ....Thanks

you should make sure that the window track is free of anything that will block the window from going up.
Sometimes some of the rubber trim used around the window inside the door to seal it from water will break off and end up in the track

I guess you decided to stick around huh!
Many of the older Ford window motors had plastic gears in them that would strip out. You can either replace the gear or there is a trick we used to do with stacking 6 nuts in them to replace the gear and they would work great that way (much cheaper than buying the gear too). I can't remember off hand what size, but I think they were 7/16" OD. Pull your motor and you will see what I am talking about. Good luck!
