Default ac problems

ac is blowing hot air, I have checked the pressure and fuses. Could it be the compressor? how would you check it?

Lightbulb check the A/C clutch first

Does the A/C clutch engage when you turn the A/C on?

Unfortunately it does not, probably the compressor. Is there a way to check it?

Exclamation Clutch

From my experience, if the clutch does not engage then the whole compressor gets replaced. There might be a way the replace just the clutch and then try it but that I do not know how to do. As for checking the compressor, you cant tell if the compressor is actually compressing if the clutch does not engage.

The ac clutch came apart so I have to replace the compressor and accumalator, dealer wants $1000 to do it, I will do it myself for less than half that.

Question wow

Seems like you could replace the whole thing for far less than that .

I think I might go out and buy some parts for my truck and store them till they are needed . It seems to me that parts and even affordable mechanics are getting harder to come by .

Hey, if you can, maybe take pictures of the process and post them. It would be interesting to see how it is done .

Good Luck!

I ended up taking to a local mechanic, he only charged me $600 for the whole thing.
