Default Buying a used ford diesel

I want to purchase a used 250 or a 350 super duty. The main purpose would be for towing a 3300 pound race car inside of a full car trailer and still be able to carry some stuff in the bed of the truck. I plan on making 6 trips to the El Mirage Dry Lakes and two trips up to Bonneville in one year a total of about 2500 miles a year of towing. Whats a good mileage for a used diesel and which series do you guys/gals recommend? If this post belongs somewhere else please let me know. Hope someone can help, thanks.

I pull a 30' Travel Travel Trailer with a 2000 F-350 and get around 12 - 13 mpg, typically. I stay around 18 - 19 mpg while empty.

Idk about diesel, but I have a 1998 Chevy K3500 with the 5.7 Vortec. Doesn't matter what you put in that truck, are how much you pull with it, it gets 16 MPG. And it's been through Canada pulling a 20' car trailer loaded with lead heavy enough that it bent both axles, and the truck still got 16 MPG
