Default clutch/neutral start switch

I have a 89 F250 w/5 speed. The thing wont start unless I jump the starter relay w/screwdriver.
replaced the relay and it still wn'r start without the jump.
Moved to the next likely malfunction Clutch Neutral Safety Switch BUT I can't seem to locate this device on this truck.
A book I have (Haynes) states it's either on the clutch or master cylinder but I'm not seeing it.
Can any one point me in the right direction concerning this matter?
thanks

The switch is under the dash on the connecting rod from the peddle to the master. if not a swapped me auto to a 5 speed and just wired the starter solenoid straight to a push button on my dash.
