Default need help with steering column falling????

i got a 2003 7.3 supercab F-250 and i got mad one day and punched my steering wheel and it fell into my lap dam near. got under the dash and the plastic trapazoid shaped clips looked bad. stop at a local and got some old ones off a demo truck and put them in. well she did it again and after looking closere it looks like the steering column needs to come up and back i loosened up the 13mm that hold to the steel bracket and loosen up the 10mm that connects the shaft to the rack and pinion. just cant get the dam thing to come back that extra 1/4 inch for the plastic clips to fully seat. what the HELL...

another than anger managment just wish i could just roll over every dumb a$$ that think that a 9900+lbs truck stops on a dime. just need some help..
