Towing a F350 4 wheels down
Hi all,
I have a 2002 F350 7.3L diesel 4x4 with an automatic transmission.
Is it possible to tow this critter with 4 wheels down for long distances? I have heard that it might need a lube pump for the transmission (kind of like what folks with RVs or motorhomes sometimes have to put on their cars that are towed along behind all wheels down), I've also heard that it could take a driveshaft lock for both the front and rear (unless the hubs are manually unlockable) so that the wheels could spin without turning the transmission. I guess the drive lock would disengage the driveshaft(s?) somehow.
Since we use the truck for hauling hay I'd be a little uneasy about having someone dinking around with driveshafts ... but this is just because I'm not a mechanic and don't know exactly what's involved.
I've found a lot of articles about F350s doing the towing ... but I haven't found any mention of someone wanting to tow one [sm=insomnia.gif]
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time and reply.
