03 silverado 5.3 won't start
I have looked all over and can't find a thread with my specific problem anywhere on any forum, fix ya, ehow, or ask.com - nada and zilch.
03 silverado with 5.3 and automatic two wheel drive. Had the occasional "no start" even with a hot battery problem that began to get worse until it took tapping starter with hammer to get it to turn over. Replaced starter two weeks ago and all seemed fine. Yesterday started fine and pulled into driveway and turned off. came back out later and nothing. I am getting 12 volts to the larger nut on the solenoid but not to the small nut on top when cranking. I have looked high and low for a neutral safety switch wiring diagram so I can test it but no luck. I have tried putting in neutral and pressing brake to start and no luck. put the truck in reverse and the reverse lights are on. cycled the gear selector throughout the range and tried again and nothing. when i turn key to start dinging stops, all gauges go to nothing and radio cuts out. Not sure if that helps but another guy on another forum asked that question. no aftermarket alarms and I have owned the truck since new.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, it appears you have to have a special tool from GM to replace this NSS if it is indeed bad. Can anyone confirm that?
Thanks,
