Default 2000 silverado tansmission

Hey Guys,

I need some help.
I have a 2000 silverado Z-71. The problem is the transmission will not go into low gear.
It will go low 4wd.
and it seems overdrive won't kick in when it is in 2wd
Could this be only a sensor? Please email back with any help.

Thanks, Dale

It actslike it starts in 2nd gear. and when I go down the road and go from 2 to 1 nothing happens and when I start in d in seems to start in 2nd., but 4 low works great.
I had a similar problem a year ago with the gauges and transmission.
But I could disconnect battery and it would fix it.

Take it to auto zone and have them check youre codes. Trans issues suck and our trans is one of the wost ever!!

Hey,

Here is what is happening. The service engine light is on but motor runs fine.
The ABS light come off and on
and the transmissions will not shift right.
Do you think this a computer issue?

Thanks, Dale

No but the computer might tell what the problem is and more than likely if the engine is running fine and the light is on is a trans issue you have a trans control unit (TCU). my light was on because of a shift solenoid and it wouldnt shift right and wile on the highway it would slip in and out of overdrive. when it was cold it wouldnt go into 2nd.

They should tell you at the parts store what the codes are but if not try to google them. Good luck!!
