2006 4.8 1500 Silverado Emission Vent sol/cont circuit
My check engine light went and got a free engine check and that was the report I got back. The code was PO449. it is a Evaporate Emission Vent solonoid/Control Circuit. The question I have is where can I start that is cheap to get the that light to turn off without bringing it to a repair shop. Any suggestion would be very helpfull. Thanks

no power to tank vent valve
1 check for power at vent valve on rear of tank. Two wire plug one is from the fuse box. find diagrams for your truck. The other is from engine controller It is grounded by pcm to turn on solenoid.
If it has no power check fuses in fuse center under hood. The truck I had problems with had a wire that had corroded on the outside of the frame by the drivers door. It was a 2009 2500 with a 6.0 but the wiring diagrams matched a 2008. The wire was a orange wire. Also there is a service bullitin for the vent valve and relocating the fresh air intake from next to the valve on the rear of the tank to the top of the trans. I recomend moving it to under the hood by the master cylinder. (less dirt) The valve is killed by dirt.
