Default '95 Jimmy 4WD problem

Hi all. I'm new to this forum and intro'd myself in the new member forum.
Anyway, I have a '95 Jimmy with that darn push button 4WD. I've had it for over a year with no problems. Now it won't go into 4 HI. I had it in 4 HI about a week ago, but won't go in now. It goes into 4 LO, but not HI.

I used to be able to push the button in gear driving, but nowI can only push it in neutral. When I push the 4 HI button, it does the normal blinking, but then just goes back to being in 2 HI. If I pushthe 4 HI button8 or 9 times it eventualy goes into 4 LO.The 4 HI light came on the other day by itself, so I pushed the 2 HI to get it out. I thought it was the push button switch so I put a new one in, but it wasn't that. Is the problem in the solenoid on the transfer case? If it is how the heck do I fix it, it looks like a pain in the *****. And what is the solenoid on the front axle? It doesn't look like the one on the '94 GMC 2500 6.5 turbo I used to have. This one has some kind of hard cable or something going to it.

I'd appreciate any help cause this is my wife's truck and she uses it to haul around our 2 yr old son. So I rely on the 4WD for the snow. Thanks for your time. Doug
