chevy luv trans

Default chevy luv trans

hey guys i got a question. i got a 79 chevy luv and tryoing to change the clutch. its 4wheel drive. wondering if i have to remove the transfer case in order to get the trans out. cant get enough clearence now to get it out. if so, is it a hard thing to do. friend said he didnt know if there was anything like needle bearings oranything that might come out and get lost. any help would be great

Hey Chris, yes the transfer should come out but other than being heavy its not too bad to remove just make sure you have everything disconnected before removing the nuts that hold it to the tranny like the vent line on top if it has one. As long as you don't take the actual case apart there will be nothing to worry about loosing, hope this helps.

Dude..a LUV is still around??..

Nah,no biggie...there should be a gasket/o-ring between the trans and transfer you'll need...and maybe a splash of fluid
