Default Put supercharger on or get diesel???

Hello, I have a 2001 chevy 1500HD crew cab 4wd with 75000 miles. I have a gooseneck ball installed. I'm in the process of buying a 40ft aluminum goosneck trailer ( 24000 pound capacity ) I will using it to carry tractors that I sell for another company ranging from 27 hp to 114 hp. My question is do i put the money in my old truck like supercharger , intakes , high pressure fuel pumps etc. to be able to get more towing hp/tq. or do I trade it in for a diesel. Its not like I'll be on the road 8 hours a day 5 days a week. Just occasionally. Would love some help with what I need to do ? I really like the truck I have now it runs great.

go buy a cummins. your half ton will get horrible gas milage and have a horrid time getting up to speed. the cummins will pull all day long and never slow down. the new chevy's are all emission speced and they pretty much suck. ford keeps changing motors so i would not get one of those either. get a 94 or newer cummins and they will be just fine

yeah cummins motor is great but the rest of the truck will "***" apart. f*%$ those dodges the trannys suck and personally i think they are ugly. but if you wanna go with a gm truck i would upgrade to at least a 2500hd to tow a trailer like that especially if you are gonna come close to 24000 lbs.. now when choosing between gas or diesel thats tough. diesels generally cost 5000-7000 bucks more so the 5mpgs to the gallon you save would take a long time to offset the higher cost. as far as the power, bone stock they are about the same...my father has an 01 chevy dually with the 8.1 and allison 5 spd auto and my lil bro has an 04 same except with a 6.6l duramax. ive driven and towed with both and they are very comparable. as far as power adders go you can chip the diesel and safely gain 100 hp and 150 tq for about a grand. the gas you can get the whipple setup for like 6 grand and almost double your hp and tq. me personally i would get the gas motor but i guess thats just because every j/o around me has a chipped diesel and thinks they are god.......

I am a first time Chevy owner, I have a 2004 Silverado 2500HD, and I can say that it does great for me. I can't speak for many other trucks, but unless you are going for the 7.3 litre diesel, Ford hasn't proved anything much since then. I also agree with shaved88 as far as Dodge is concerned"good motor",but truck has bad rep. When deciding wether to go gas or diesel, however, I am a first time diesel owner and like it alot, but I have always had good luck with all my gas motors....Tough one!
