Default sputtering?

i have a 88 gmc 1500 i had a friend put plugs and wires on it because it was running really doggy. now its sputtering when u try to accelerate. he said he did the wires one at a time and he doesnt think he had them crossed any ideas im goin to compair it with a buddies truck later to make sure they are not crossed. what else should i look for or at?

ok all the wires were right. i changed fuel filter that didnt do it. than cap and rotar and that made it worse. so do u think timing?

carbureted? jets might be dirty , float may be stuck.
May also be a cracked vaccuum hose- those buggers can makeit run like that.
EGR might be crudded up too - take it off and clean it out.
Its a start , and so far a cheap fix that probably needs to be done anyway.
