Default Tranny converter not locking up properly

I have a 92 6.2 diesel 4x4 chev.
When the tranny is cold, the tranny would go into lock up at around 35 mph....but once the tranny warmed up, it would kick in and out...on the highway if i was doing 55mph, and step on the gas it would lock-up, then when I eased of to 60, it would come out of lock up....its seems when I put a load on the motor, it goes in, but once I ease off ever so slightly, out it comes...bad for mileage.
I had the truck into the tranny shop, they changed a solenoid in the tranny...it didnt make a spit of difference...and the tranny shop wanst much help after I gave them $180.00.
I tried changing the TPS unit with one I got out of a 1988- 6.2 van..I had to swap the wireing harness, as the ends where a little different...same 3 wire configuration though.. (same 3wire colors)...but itdidnt seem to do anything,....now it doesnt even hardly want to lock-up the convereter.
Is there a certain setting I need to be making, as the TPS has about 1" slot to adjust it....but where dom I start with the adjustment if thats m problem..
I would buy a new TPS, but GM wants well over $200.00, and Im not garanteed it will fix my problem...
Any thoughts...anyone???

I tried that while driveing down the road, when the tranny was cold and it was in lock-up...hit the brake ever so lightly, while keping a constant speed, and it drops out of lock-up..
So I dont believe that is the problem..
Thanks anyway

Did a bit of adjusting, and it seems to be locking up when its suppose to...around 40mph...
Haven't tried it out on the highway yet, but am assuming it should work??
