Yeah I know what you mean about not needing to know what your 1/4 mile times are in your truck and personally I don't really need to for my truck either but it is just something extra to know about I guess. The custom tune from Black Bear seems to be pretty good since I have looked and looked for negative feedback and didn't find any yet. I have communicated with Justin from Black Bear via email and he told me that he plans to actually move the company to San Diego next year. So I'm thinking about just waiting on the custom tune until or if he actually does move the company here. He also said that he might be coming into San Diego later this year if I was to want to do a "in person tune" but didn't tell me any dates on that.

I've only noticed maybe about 5-7 more hp and tq so I usually have it set for regular to save money on gas. With either setting I have gotten great gas miliage (16-18 city, over 21 hwy). The only bad thing I can honestly say is that I wish it would disable some torqe management but then again for me I want to keep this truck forever so to me it isn't THAT bad to have that "safety" on the drivetrain. I had it on the dyno at JBA to see what changes in horsepower with it in and stock. We saw about 20 more hp and about 24 lbs of tq increase but the air fuel ratio was really rich (10.0:1) at wide open throttle. You probably knew all of what changes you could do with it already, but I just wanted to be a little more detailed about it so I hope all of this helps. Anything else you need just ask.

I have the Hypertech MAX energy. I think it has been very good for my truck and what my intentions are. It allows for speedometer calibration through changing gear ratios and changing sizes of tires. It provides the ability for you to change shift points from a -500rpm to a +500 rpm with 100 rpm increments with 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th gear so you can see what shift point works best for each shift. Also, you can increase shift firmness so it shifts gears a little quicker under hard acceleration. You can raise the rev limiter to 6500 rpm or back it down to 5500 rpm and change the top speed limiter anywhere I think from 81mph to 186mph. There are always new updates online that you can just download to the tuner and you can choose to tune it for regular unleadead or premium unleaded.
