san diego dealers
Hey there fellow San Diegan. I've been living here about 3 years almost now and last year I bought an 08 Chevy Silverado at Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet in Kearny Mesa. The customer service was really good and I got a good deal on my truck. From my experience I would get the 5.3 or 6.0 V8 with active fuel management. I have the 6.0 vortecMax and get 17-26 mpg. Alot of people might tell you to get the 4.8 V8 to "save gas" but it doesn't convert down to 4 cylinder mode and you don't get any mpg improvement either. The 5.3 seems to be the best overall with someone telling me they got 26-28mpg on the highway. The 6.0 liter has more power and thus stays in 4 cylinder mode easier than the 5.3. But you just have to know what you want and go with it.
I hope this was some help to you. Also if you get a new silverado they really take to upgrades and can SIGNIFICATLY up your horsepower and torque. My 6.0 is pushing over 425 hp and about 480 lbs of tq with the good fuel economy as well. I personally think GM is the way to go.
