Hey Howdy Hey!
Hi everyone, my name is Gene and I just joined a little while ago and thought I'd start off my first post on this site introducing myself, I am 39 years old, I am a full time body man who specializes in collision repair, I repair a lot of trucks at my work place so I can bring a lot of helpful advice and experience to the table here, I am in no way a mechanic, but I can change parts, just have a hard time with diagnostics so I look forward to meeting some experience people here as well as helping with my knowledge and experiences.
I drive a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab, it's the rare 6.0 vortex max, she's fully loaded with all the bells and whistles, everything but nav. and reverse camera, gave it a little bit of a denali look, she was a write off, center hit just on the frame, so no body damage which is why I scooped it up before it hit the lot at my workplace. all that was needed was new front cross member which attaches the front section of the lower control arms to the frame, change the front dif and rack, other than that, there wasn't much else to do. I am use to driving small cars cause I usually needed the econo as it usually took me a while to get to work, but now I live only 5 minutes to work so thought I could spoil myself with a truck, so many times I have looked for someone with a truck to help me tow a car, move something etc, now I can do it all on my own and feels great.
It didn't take me long to get use to the truck as I drive them around work everyday, but just never owned one so this experience is new, I get many, many compliments on it, more than my last project, I get heads turning every day when I drive it and so far has been my favorite so far.
thanks for reading and here's a couple of pictures, first is when I first bought it and second is what I have done so far and excited to think what I will do next!!
