Default speedometer

i have 90 1/2 ton siverado, that has a 700 r4 trans, with a speed sensor tailshaft.( THE R4 was a gear driven speedometer, and the 1990 tailshaft is the speed sensortype.) how do i retrofit to my electricalspeedometer wires ? how much is it, and where do i get it, so my speedometer will work again ? thanks, ron

Default RE: speedometer

my speedometer in my 1990 silverado no longer works. the previous owner of this truck , had had transmission problems, so he took out the 1990 speed sensor type ( factory trans ) and put in a camero 700 r4 trans, however , he took the tail shaft off of the 700 r4, and put the factory 1990 tailshaft on the end of the 700 r4. this was done because , the 700 r4 is a mechanical working ( cable ) speedometer , and the factory 1990 trans had speed sensor ( electrical ) . so, what i have is , from my printed circuit-instrument cluster, is myelectrical type speedometer. from it is the electrical wires that go to the tail shaft. but it still dosen;t work, because inow have a wrong transmission, but right tailshaft. this is as clear as i can describe it, and it is a 1990 1/2 ton, 350, automatic-2 wheel drive, but all that is origional for the transmission is it;s tailshaft. if i amm now clear enugh, please tell me how do i get the speedometer to work again, what do i need to do, and how much would the cheapest possible way to fix it, cost ?---ron at mustcam@sbcglobal.net--------thank you
