Default New to off roading/mudding

So I got a truck again and am wanting to go off roading and mudding anywhere and everywhere. But I want to do it right and not ignorantly. I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado Z71 with what I believe are slightly above average tires that're fairly new, some Dunlops, but nothing fancy like swamp tires or anything like that. It isn't lifted yet either. My question is, would I still be able to go off roading and mudding in this truck since it has 4x4 or would it be best to wait until the truck's lifted and has some actual mudding tires on it before taking it off the road? I want to take it off the road but don't want to cause damage due to not having the truck properly equipped to go off the road just yet. Any and all help and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

I wouldn't stray off the trails. IFS isn't ideal for Mudding

Alright thanks for the tip. That's what I was thinking starting out with just the default equipment on the truck.
