Got her runnin!

Got her runnin!
I got my Supra runnin finally! Although I'm still working on getting it running right. I had just got her running before I went to work today and after adjusting the distributor all the way over, I finally got it to crank and idle at like 150-200rpm. So I'm gonna yank the distributor out and rotate it over a tooth and see how that works out. I did it the way the toyota manual showed to do it but obviously that doesn't work, LOL! I am so glad to have it back in one piece and running but now I have a guy who is gonna buy it for $1675 after I get it finished.
The good news is, it's a guy whose current daily driver is a 95 Mk IV Supra. It's right hand drive(was shipped from Japan), and it's twin turboed! He took me for a drive last weekend and it was a BLAST to be in!

Thats cool man!! Im glad to here she's running. Them right hand drives are so cool to bad you didnt get to drive it. Its so weird to shift with your right hand I drove a Skyline that was right hand drive. There is a guy in MI that imports cars from Japan and sells them. I wish I would have bought it but he wouldn't bulge on the price. I put down 2.500 before I even looked at it.

What do ya'll think? Not bad for my first time ever taking an engine half way apart. Didn't have any physical help on it either. Removed the head and put it back in place alone. That's a heavy joker too. Still tweaking it. Got the distributor in correctly now and it's timed at like 20* before TDC which is about 10 too much but it sounds good. Only problem is it won't idle very well. After it warms up the idle starts fluctuating and it will stall out if you leave it. It's also missfiring. Hopefully I can get all of that resolved soon and take her out on a test drive. Haven't driven this thing in forever! My customer is ready to pick this thing up too, LOL!

Did you break any bolts? Thats the hardest part of taking off heads. Them damn exhaust blots break allot Ive broke a few my self. I put a light weight flywheel in the Saturn. When I was torquing the bolts the threads started striping on one of them. When I was re taping the hole I thought it might throw off the balance. Long story short I had to drill and tap all the holes and use a bigger size bolt.

Oh my gosh man. I'd have just taken some fuel and a lighter to it, LOL! No actually I didn't break any bolts fortunately. I did find out one of the valve cover bolt holes is rounded out but it isn't leaking so it's all good. I've got her running pretty good now too. I've been driving it around my neighborhood and back and forth to the Tom Thumb just to get it worked in. Had to put some Lucas in it to quiet down a tick, and it still has the missfire at idle... which will as far as I'm concerned forever remain a mystery. Oh well.
I had decided that I wasn't buying anymore project vehicles after I sell this but I can't bare the thought of not having something to wrench on. Guess I'm gonna wait and see what I can find laying around in someone's barn in Tennessee.
