To keep it or not to keep it....

RE: To keep it or not to keep it....
Yeah a Beetle. Why not? They get great gas mileage, the engine is supposed to be the easiest one in the world to take out and work with. They are really old and popular so parts are simple and easy to come by. And, they're pimp! Just my opinion but I think they look pretty cool on some decent wheels and lowered. But we'll see. The less expensive investment would be a bike but I'm thinking of my well being too.
I would love to have a Redline but I already have my Sierra and I make like $8.50 an hour after comission..................

yeah sell the supra, lots of problems. But a beetle? in my opinion i dont like them, but its your choice. I know this is probably a bad decision but i would get an older Eclipse like 90's or a Talon(even through talons break down sometimes). But those eclipses are fast as hell when you buildthem.

HAH! Break down sometimes?! Those things are never running! Everybody I know who has one or had one wants to sell it cause they are constantly dumping money into it. Don't get me wrong, they look good and they are fast if they're turbo'd but those are money pits. I bought an issue of Hot VW's today and I've got the fever so that's pretty much what I'm sticking with. Fuel economy, class, and cheap performance all in one package. That's what I'm all about. Although we'll leave the performance out of the story until I have a better paying job. I'll keep ya'll updated with this. I just picked up my headbolts so I'll be putting the Supra back together over the next several weeks. Thanks for the input guys!

RE: To keep it or not to keep it....
Okay so tonight after work I finally broke bad and cleaned up my engine in preperation for reinstalling the head. Honestly I haven't touched the thing since I yanked the head off a couple weeks ago and I was flabbergasted at how nasty it was. I onced over the engine for a second after pulling the head and kinda did the "yep that's an engine" and that was it. Tonight as I peared into the engine bay I decided to go ahead and clean up the block surface so it's ready for me to put the head back on wednesday. As I'm cleaning it becomes apparant I need wipe off my pistons. About 2 hours worth of labor later my pistons and block surface are looking really good but there is petrified carbon on the pistons that just won't come off. It's rediculous!! Some of the carbon build up on the pistons is so thick I'm sure the valves were touching the carbon. Looks 100X better though. I also vaccumed out all the crud and lubed up the cylinders real good with some 20w50. I am getting very excited about putting it back together now. I'll try and get some pics for you guys if I can.

Well I've been thinking about my decision of getting a Beetle and it's becoming apparant to me that these things are SCARCE around here. I mean you see them out and about tooling along every other day or so but it has just dawned on me that you don't ever see any for sale around here. I tried looking at ALL of my local resources for one and didn't find one for sale. I've even been eyeballing a few in peoples yards that are broke down but I don't wanna buy a broke down one.... for that matter one of the owners said they weren't interested in parting with it anyway.
So it's down to this. What SHOULD I get? I don't wanna keep the Supra cause it is going to bea financial burden as long as I own it. I want something that get's excellent gas mileage, runs and driveslike a swiss watch, and is fun to drive. Doesn't have to be fast as I was considering a Beetle. An S10, Civic, 240sx, Nissan pickup,Accord, Ranger,Integra,motorcycle..... what else would go nicely on this list?

Awe..... I can't believe I forgot to put that on the list!
Nah but seriously. What do you think? I am just too random and scatter brained to make any kinda firm decision. One minute I'm SURE WITHOUT A DOUBT I wanna do such and such, 3 days later I'm thinking of doing something else.

They made 4 banger Mustangs in the 80s. If I were you and I would just keep looking around at 4 bangers until you find something you like. I just sold my Saturn so now I dont have any cars that do good on gas. Alot of the Honda guys seem to be pretty proud of there cars. I hate them but you might like one. I did have a Prelobe (or however its spelled) and it was a good car. It handled really well.

LOL! Do you mean a Honda Prelude? Prelobe.... what the crap is that? I love Preludes. Don't see them for sell around here much though and when you do people want big bucks for them. I hate car shopping in this area cause around here, cars are either a commodity or they aren't. Which is either really good or really bad depending on what you want and what your doing. Preludes, Supras, Rx7s, Integras, and 240sx's are all HOT commodities. I lucked into my 240sx and I don't know how on earth I got my Supra so cheap. The guy was having a really rough time selling it but at the same time when I got it, it was missfiring at idle and the check engine light was on with 4 codes registered. I'm hoping the engine overhaul will take care of most of that. But we'll see.
My indecisiveness is also I HUGE problem for me. I change my mind every time I wake up in the morning.[&:]
