Default 1992 gmc sierra 5.7l egr valve

hello, im having trouble getting my truck to pass emissions so i changed the egr valve today, after i changed it now the truck runs rreally rough for about 30 seconds after you start it. it revs up and down and struggles to stay running immediatly after starting for about 15-30 seconds then it seems to smooth out. any help? also while messing with it trying to fiugre out the problem i snapped the little bent black plastic tube that comes off the valve. i rigged it with some shrink tube but cant find that little tube available anywhere. any help on that also?

the egr should be closed at idle. If its running properly, its should not impact idle quality.
what failed on your emission test, nox? Post all the results and specs if you have them.

how is the egr controlled. I know you said it had a vacuum port. I'm wondering if there are different types and you have the wrong one. my old car from the 80"s had 2 options; positive and negative backpressure controlled valves.

is your repaired vacuum line leaking. block off the source port and try a start up.
