2005 Z71 Fuel Tank Charcoal filter recall
Hi Chevy lovers!
I'm new to this posting stuff but have been reading some of the threads. This is a great place for information!
I recently bought a 2005 Silverado Z71 Off-Road. I wasn't looking for a 4wd but I new the private seller and the price was very low so I took a chance.
The truck has a 5.3L Vortec flex-fuel. and has been, "road hard and put away wet!" I have been going through it's many problems one at a time to put it back in shape. My priorities depend more on finances than I would like so I work on one problem per paycheck.
This week end it's the OBD II code about the fuel tank charcoal canister and solenoid. There was a recall on the filter but the dealer wants $500.00 to do it so It's diy time. The dealership mechanic told me how to fix it by relocating the outlet filter forward of the fuel tank but didn't tell me how far forward. Has anyone done this recall repair? I would appreciate any advise.

I wonder if this would produce the symptom of the truck not starting on the first turn, but always on the second? I replaced my fuel tank after the brackets holding it rusted out and I reused the old charcoal canister. Maybe I should go back and put the new one in.
